properly care for your hardwood flooring
Learn how to properly care for your new hardwood flooring during and after construction with these tips.
During construction, use ram board in high traffic areas to protect against minor scratches, paint, and sliding furniture. Once you move in, avoid dragging heavy objects across the floor and use felt pads on furniture legs to prevent deep scratches. Prevent water damage by soaking up spills immediately and placing rugs in wet areas, such as under sinks and near appliances.
To keep your hardwood floors looking their best:
Avoid using moving bristles when vacuuming and always vacuum with the grain of the wood. For dust removal, try using a dry dust pad from Bona or Swiffer. When mopping, use Bona products and limit to two times per week maximum, making sure to avoid over-soaking with product and promptly soaking up any liquid. Although hardwood flooring requires a little more upkeep than tile or laminate, it is a valuable and unique investment that will add character and last for years to come.
